Senior Stylist (Internal Applicants Only)


Senior Stylists are versatile, efficient, and exemplary stylists who can problem solve with ease. This is largely an active role requiring lifting, twisting, reaching, bending, and standing for extended periods. This position requires the ability to move and lift boxes and bend or stand as necessary.   • Understand and utilize Zenoti, HotSchedules, and Workplace

  • Use Workplace, email, in shop bulletins to communicate events, important dates and things that need improvement or attention

  • Be proficient in ALL barbering and cutting techniques

  • Be proficient in Wella Color and Pulp Riot Colors (Colorist Only) 

  • Be knowledgeable and able to execute ALL services offered by Birds Barbershop

  • Provide solutions for difficult clients

  • Be knowledgeable in all products carried at Birds Barbershop

  • Be a resource for difficult consultations

  • Handle Redo’s- Redo’s will be booked with you.

  • Provide Redo information and solutions to Director and Stylist involved

  • Provide guidance and one on one education to Stylists in need

  • Assist Director and Senior Shop Manager in Disciplinary action as the management team sees fit.

  • Communicate and help coordinate shop education needs with Shop Director

  • Communicate shop supplies needed to Director

  • Place color orders and manage color inventory 

  • Be able to coordinate and lead in-house education classes; MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES

  • Be available for a Shadow day for new hires, give shop tours, provide Haircut and Neck Shave Demo, and explain current pricing.

  • Have and maintain high quality tools; shears, combs, brushes, clippers, trimmers, blow-dryer, nape razor and blades.

  • Organize a regular traveling Shear Sharpener and notify all stylists in the shop.

  • Maintain full discretion and confidentiality with private matters as stylist come to you with items that need attention; be able to redirect these matters to the Shop Director

  • Have a monthly station check routine:

    • At least one free drawer for floating stylists

    • Free of hair and debris

    • Tools meet standards- check for spare nape razor blades, sharp clippers, help align blades if needed)

    • Stations are kept to TDLR standards

    • Texas Cosmetology/Barber is displayed and up to date

    • Check hydraulics on Barber chairs

    • Check lather machines for full functionality (be sure they are not overheating or spitting out the lather liquid)

    • Check that every station has a surge protector power strip

    • Product Library should be fully stocked with products we carry and organized

  • Arrive 30 minutes prior to scheduled shift

  • Be able to make runs to nearby beauty supply stores for emergencies only

  • Assist receptionist with laundry, help check in/out clients, let stylist know clients are here for them, be sure towel warmers are filled in between clients

  • Complete station and shop cleaning duties daily

  • Attend all mandatory meeting when scheduled by management

  • Work a minimum of 30 hours per week

  • Oversee test cuts for potential new stylist

  • Attend a monthly management meeting with Shop Director and Senior Shop Manager to discuss shop needs and goals

  • Assist Shop Director in Stylist Reviews 

  • Must hold a current Texas Cosmetology/Barber License

  • 2+ years experience
